In the mid-1940s the Eameses applied the same breakthrough technology they used to create their famous molded plywood chairs to produce this simple, lightweight, imaginative table Nelson was so impressed that he told Herman Miller president to hire them.
De Pree finally succumbed after some time being unconvinced his small company needed another designer and went to see their pieces when they were shown at the Museum of Modern Art. Soon, the Eameses were designing for Herman Miller.
